» APPEARANCE:Shikamaru is average height and weight, in good physical condition due to his training as a ninja. He wears a mesh undershirt that goes down to his wrist, a flak jacket as befits his rank as chunin with his forehead protector tied to his left arm. He has dark eyes, with black hair worn up in a ponytail with a bored or typically uninterested to annoyed expression on his face.

» PERSONALITY: Shikamaru Nara is a young man by right of age but being a genius makes him more mature than average. You would never guess he was a genius, since most of the time he is doing nothing much more than terming the situation troublesome or annoying. He personally calls himself the number one coward. Shikamaru does not want to stand out or be exceptional. He wants to live a simple life, take a wife who he figures will be troublesome because all women seem to be. Have a son and daughter and grow old. Of course, things change and Shikamaru has grown by this point in the series, he still complains and calls things troublesome but after the death of his teacher and friend Asuma he becomes much more mature than he already was.

Shikamaru believes in the Will of Fire, wanting to protect the future generations of his village. Aiming to become a cool adult as he saw Asuma to be and help teach the next generation, seeing just how important they are, that it is the next generation which matters because they will continue on as each generation has before them. Shikamaru rarely gets loud though he can be cocky at times, he seems to enjoy a bit of mischief or fun at a friend’s expense. He also shows a bit of a darker side in his killing of Hidan, the man who killed Asuma, he did so because it meant protecting the village but he did it the way he did because of what Hidan had done to Asuma. In a tricky situation Shikamaru is not a bad guy to have around, he may take a moment while he assess everything but he can and does come up with plans that more often than not work out well.

He is a loyal young man with a good heart who wants to protect his friends. He seems to have a deep sense of duty, willing to take out someone on orders, even if he knows it will upset or hurt friends of his, understanding that the good of the many outweighs the wishes of the few. He will rarely display his emotions unless in private, it takes a good deal for Shikamaru to show anything other than that annoyed, I don’t want to be here demeanor. But it is all there and everyone knows it, they just let him wear the indifferent exterior.

In short Shikamaru would prefer to just laze around and cloud gaze, go through life without any big event and maybe play a game of shogi. But, when life decides to be anything but simple or easy, he will be there and nine times out of then have a plan that can take care of the problem. Doing his best to make sure him and everyone with him survives, while protecting the future of his village. A fierce fighter with a bit of a cocky side, who likes to complain and call things troublesome he is still a likeable guy who you can count on.
